Welcome to Blue Class

Hi, I’m Snoops and I’m here to tell you about Blue Class!

The Blue class at Stoke Row School is where you find the foundation stage children - the youngest children in the school!

The children spend the first term settling in to the daily routines of school life and making lots of new friends. They also start to learn lots of letter sounds in a variety of different ways - singing, doing actions, showing objects beginning with that letter sound - all this before even writing the letters!

When our topic is Ourselves - the children find out lots of things about themselves and their families, and we try to visit Natural History Museum in London. You can see below some of the exciting things that the children do.

Practising our letters on the interactive whiteboard

Finding shapes in the outdoor classroom

Reading books with our friends from Red class

Helping clean up the outdoor area for a very special visit from the local MP. I’m helping too!!

Visiting the local woods to investigate the Autumn changes

Exploring the extremely large natural history museum

Another topic is Festivals and it starts with a bang, literally! The children learn all about Bonfire Night and the traditions behind it. They are very creative making firework pictures and do some fun blastoff mathematics!

Rocket Maths

Fireworks

The children continue their guided reading groups and finish learning their letter sounds. As the year progresses they are kept very busy - practising for the nativity play, learning about Diwali, Hanukkah, Eid and Christmas, continuing their maths workbooks as well as much much more!!
